Established in 1987 as a major initiative in augmenting quality in Higher Education, the UGC promoted 51 Academic Staff Colleges.  The Academic Staff College of University of Hyderabad is a constituent unit of the University offering Orientation, Refresher and need-based courses for lecturers working in Universities and Colleges.  The Staff College has so far organized 60 Orientation courses and 164 Refresher Courses besides a number of short-term courses for Educational Administrators & Principals. In the year 2008-2009, the Academic Staff College organized 3 Orientation Courses and 11 Refresher Courses, and a Principals' Workshop. So far 8069 participants are benefited through these courses..  

During the year 2009-2010, ASC proposed to organize four Orientation courses and 13 Refresher Courses and two Professional Development Courses in subjects proposed by Academic Advisory Committee & approved by University Grants Commission.
